Crown Lifts - Stair Lifts

Wide Range of Stair Lifts

We offer a wide range of equipment to assist people with mobility problems. All our equipment can be supplied for home or commercial use and indoor and outdoor locations.

There are two types of stair lift, straight or curved. Curved stair lifts are able to cope with internal or external curves or a combination of both. Straight stair lifts can have adaptations to provide a temporary platform at an upper level. This platform can overcome a quarter landing with two more steps.

StairliftStraight stair lifts arrive at the upper level with the footplate level with the top landing. At the lower level the tread plate comes to rest on just above the lower landing. Curved stair lifts can be arranged to continue along either the upper or lower landing and even continue on into a room. There are adaptations to overcome doorways close to the bottom of the stairs (straight stair lifts only).

Both types of stair lift are generally fitted within a day and do not require removal of the carpet. They generally rest on the stair treads with little or no requirement for fixings to the wall. There are also very large stair lifts both straight and curved that can carry a person in a wheel chair these can also have automatic folding platforms and handrails. This type of equipment requires a wide staircase and strong fixing points in the walls. It is possible to provide a frame that spreads the loads. As with the smaller, standard curved stair lifts these wheelchair platform lifts can cope with multiple flights, half landings and continue along at either top or bottom level.

With regard to cost, curved stair lifts are generally three times the price of straight stair lifts and unfortunately as they are made to suit a specific location, they have very little re-sale value.
